Double Garage FAQs
How much does it cost to build a double garage? The cost to build a double garage is wholly dependent on sizes and specifications, whether you want a brick garage or a concrete double garage, and other factors such as location and surrounding buildings.
Do I need planning permission for a double garage? In the UK you’re allowed to build a garden structure up to 30m2 without planning permission, with a height of up to 2.5 metres. That means you probably won’t need planning permission for a double garage, but you should check with your local authority before starting any work.
As part of our own survey process, our survey advisers will provide advice as to whether planning permission will be required.
How wide is a double garage? The width of a double garage is wholly dependent on what size you choose to build a double garage. An ideal size is probably around 6m wide and 6m long, but the ideal double garage size will vary from property to property.
Does a double garage add value to my house? A double garage can certainly add value to your house. Ask your local estate agent for an estimate of how much more your property might be with the addition of a double garage.

We had an old asbestos garage which we wanted removing and a new garage to replace but in a different position.The lead time was about 3 months due to the pandemic. There has been no issues with any part of the service from Dencroft.Firstly the old garage dismantle was subcontracted to an asbestos removal firm who were quick and efficient. The base was laid by the same team who went on to erect the garage a week later. The work was done on time and we are more than happy with quality of the garage and the standard of work carried out.

I highly recommend Dencroft Garages. I ordered during the summer which I understand is their busiest time so I was comfortable that I had around a 3 month wait. Dencroft arranged for a great guy to come and remove my old Asbestos garage, and dig and lay a new concrete base ready for my new garage. My new garage was put up quickly by two guys who worked incredibly hard through horrible weather. It was torrential rain but the garage was up just after lunch. Everyone involved did a fantastic job and worked really hard, and my new garage is top notch. Very happy with the product and service. Dencroft built us a "concrete store" a couple of weeks ago (essentially a single garage sized shed), including a new concrete base. There's a set price list - no haggling or time limited offers to mess about with. The build took place across two days (one for the base and one for the store) and the builders were great. We're making good use of our new shed.
